Debbie Painter has lots and lots of
Rocks and Roses. Debbie is no stranger to
roses. Her parents were great rose growers and
judges, introducing her to many varieties of hybrid tea
roses. Debbie caught the bug and has dozens of
teas cascading down the front bank of her
garden. She even propagates her own from cuttings
she finds in other gardens, owners permitting, of
course.
Debbie uses organic fertilizer and
has added more and more old garden roses (specifically
David Austins) to her garden. Unlike her parents
who believed in the strict rose garden
design, Debbie believes more interest is created in the
gardens if you incorporate other plants like babies
breath, lavender and lilies.
Debbies husband, Bob, is no
stranger to rocks. He has designed and built
several graceful walls on steep grades throughout the
garden. Each rock is evaluated for its size and
shape before it is carefully placed in his creations.
