2011 flower show

The Northland Garden Club held its fifth annual Beautiful Madness Flower Show on Saturday, July 16, 2011. This year’s theme was Floral Inspirations. Our show moved to the North Kansas City Public Library this year. Eighty-three entries were received making the judging very difficult. Our judge this year was Dwayne Hoover of Kaufman Gardens. Dwayne was very informative and entertaining.

The Floral Arrangement categories for this year and their descriptions were:

Capture the Moment - find that special something that inspires your bouquet. Be sure and bring it with you to place next to your design.
Petite Harmony - is the miniature category. This design can be no taller than 6 inches, including the container.
Summer Magic - make a colorful tribute to summer, using flowers from your garden.
Water Dance - an arrangement using water as a dominant element of your floral design.

The Specimen categories this year were:
Best Bloom - spotlight whatever shines in your garden. This year Roses will be included in this category.
Pick a Perfect Leaf - can be a single leaf or branch of leaves.
Shrubs - Evergreen, Blooming or Non-Blooming

Table:

Create a Mood was this year’s Table Inspiration. Let yourself go, set a card table to match your mood. Please bring your card table.

LuAnn Wortham from Price Chopper at Vivion and N. Oak was our guest designer. At 1:30 there was a random drawing for the beautiful arrangements that LuAnn designed.
